We , a family of six went to china via kualalumpur and hongkong and returned on23rd Jan.08.. I would like to give some tips for travellers to china
01. Booking directly on line through www. Asiarooms.com / www.booking.com for hotels is quite cheap and best
02. At airport travel desk arranges transfers/returns and same driver helps you for sight seeing tours at very reasonable rates. they are very good compared to the package tours and we will be ourselves in the group
03. To get tickets for entry into petronaz towers etc, one has to go very early and stand in the queue and the car driver helps you without your toiling in the stand
04. Free Entry visas are given for 14 days for hongkong every time you enter .
05. From hongkong to shenzhen (china) it is better to take a taxi having licence for both hongkong and china which helps you to stay in the car itself when immigration formalities are done at both the borders, and there is no customs verification in this. it is only 40 km distance.
05. When you are in shenzhen do not miss" Splendid china " and " windows of the world" both require about 4 hours each at a minimum. Do not fail to carry Passports for senior citizens and children to get concession as they do not accept any other identity
06. In hongkong cheaper stay is possible at Chunking mansion guest houses , but everything in these "hostels" is in miniature forms. including the cots. wash basin, ac. machine ,frdge etc. but you are in the middle of business hub
06. In hongkong the best way to travel is to get "octopus" tickets to travel in MTR , buses etc, and finally they can be surrendered to get back the unused portion of fare and the deposit in a jiffy,
