Bishnoi Tribal Village
Bishnoi Tribal Village : Discover a
world of tribal color and rustic cultural grandeur on your tours to the Guda
Bishnoi Village located at a distance of 25-kilometers from the main Jodhpur
city. Picnic near the tiny manmade lake located in the Guda Bishnoi Village and
see migratory birds stop here and drink water. Photograph herds of deer that
stop and gaze at you with vulnerable eyes and marvel at the floral variety that
flourishes in a supposedly barren land.
Rohit Fort
Rohit Fort : This fort is at 40 Km from Jodhpur
and has now been converted into a heritage hotel and is worth visiting.
Nagaur
Nagaur : It was bestowed upon Balban as his jagir in
1242. Sher Shah captured Nagaur in 1542 A.D. Nagaur was a sarkar of Ajmer subah
during Sur empire and later in Mughal Empire. Emperor Akbar built the mosque
here, and there is a shrine of the disciple of Mu'inuddin Chishti of Ajmer.
Badal Mahal, Sheesh Mahal & Hadi Rani Mahal are worth seeing. All three
have exquisite 18th century frescos on the ceilings. There is also fascinating
medieval air cooling system and an ornate old hammam, or bath.
Dhawa
Dhawa : The Dhawa wildlife Sanctury is home to
blackbucks, patriges, desert foxes and nilgais. This sanctuary is about 40km
southwest of Jodhpur, on the road to Barmer, and has populations of blackbucks,
patriges, desert foxes and nilgaies. There is no accomodation here but it is
possible to take a half day tour from Jodhpur.
Mahamandir Temple
Mahamandir Temple : Laterally , the great
temple, is a place where sacred glory reigns in a peaceful tranquility.
Situated on Mandore road, the temple is an architectural splendor, supported by
84 pillars and ornamented with detailed designs and figures depicting various
postures of Yoga. The entire structure is marked by a unique and original style
Mandore Garden
Mandore Garden : Towards the north of Jodhpur
is the ancient capital of Marwar, Mandore. It is just 8 Kms from the city. Main
attractions of the place are hall of Heroes where sixteen huge figures which
have been carved out of a single rock, the shrine of 330 million Gods and the
royal cenotaphs. This area is of immense historical importance but what makes
it worthy of a visit is the Hall of Heroes. Sixten gigantic figures carved out
of a single rock depicting popular Hindu and folk deities stand there in bright
colours and are well maintained. But one can not miss the caves in crags and
the sprawling gardens, which are now shelter place for monkeys and peacocks.
Greenery of the place makes Mandore, in true sense, an oasis.
