Starting on July 31st, 2007, we began a tour of Delhi and Rajasthan for over 20 days.

We hired a van from Delhi Airport itself, and moved to Agra.  Though visited couple of times, Taj Mahal, continues to capture the eyes, the mind and heart.  Next stop was Mathura.  Saw this time, some thing missed in past including Brindavan.  The stay at Goverdhan Palace was a welcome change.  Next stop was Bharatpur, where there were hardly any bird worth mentioning.  Cycle ride was good, after a long time of course.  The "chinkari" was the only attraction, more after Salman Khan killing one its species

Driving to Jaipur was a nightmare on the roads.  Jaipur itself was good and visited the Chowki Dani, the village fair.  My advice, if you are from US, dont drink the buttermilk.  It made me throw my food the next day.  Be careful.

Jodhpur was interesting in terms of its palaces, old monuments.  So was Ajmer, Pushkar towns.  Visited the famous pushkar lake, where pandavas had taken a dip before going to heaven.  It was so dirty in fact, I could not put my body, satisfied with just dipping my legs.  Beware of pundits enroute, who can take you to a guilt trip and just silently pray to God it is enough.

Jaisalmer, Badmere were okay.  The camel ride in Jaisalmer can be exciting.  Nothing much in desert to describe.

Returning to Mount Abu was a pleasant change in climate.  Udaipur was excellent in terms of stay at Taj Lake Palace.  Expensive but worth it in terms of luxury and comfort.  Imagine, what Rajas would have enjoyed at public cost?? Udaipur leaves sweet memories and feel refreshed.

Back to Delhi and finished the local trip including watching the Independence Day speech on Aug 15th.  Saw it close enough that bare eyes could see Prime Minister Man Mohan Singh in morning speech.

Finally a sincere thanks to my friend, Mr. BK Mrutyunjay for making such a nice travel plan
After a return, thought 20 days is enough as you cannot take off more than that in one time, unless you are retired or taken as a child.  In worklife, have to say sometimes, it is enough.
