I went to this place long time back though, but i still remember that wonderful experience.
let me first introduce you with the story...THE story goes back hundreds of years when a great big chunk of meteor hurtled down and struck the earth somewhere near Aurangabad. This gigantic meteor ,nearly a kilometer in diameter,hit the earth with such immense force that it created a depression, almost 1.5 km in diameter.
A crater that is known as the famous LONAR CRATER. One look at this wonder of nature and mind refuses to believe that something as mystic and as vicious as a meteor could have created it.
Today it is the fascination of tourists as well as researchers.
Just take a trek to the top of the crater and you will see a beautiful green depression ,perfectly circular and 1.8 km in diameter, nestled right in the middle of the vast plain of picturesque parched fields (beauty dude!) ,you will see beautiful inviting river beds.
what more! At the bottom of this enormously large bowl lies a tranquil emerald lake, the third largest salt water lake in the world..as beautiful as flawless emerald!
So do visit this place, slow down,and take a break...experience the mysterious universe!!!
