me and 7 of my collegues went on a two day trip to mysore long ago, so long ago that i forgot which day it was.
so it begins this way. On one fine afternoon, me and my friend santhosh left ulsoor(thats where i live by the way) in a TATA sumo. We had to pick up 6 guys from various locations in bangalore. We left at around 1 in the afternoon. By 4 Bangalore darshan was over, with great struggle and patience we were all together and headed from BTM towards mysore road. By 5 we were on mysore road. Picked up cool drinks and snacks from a local shop and the sumo kicked of. We chatted all the way or more to say bantered at each other, laughs all the time. After some time, one of my friends suggested we play a game called (wolf and priests, i forgot the exact name) . This was some kindergarden game which we enjoyed playing. It took us almost two trial games for every one to understand what it was all about. Kranti and kamal(also called camel) were the heroes of the game. It was because of them we enjoyed a lot. Kamal was always the culprit irrespective of anything. We played this game for an hour, believe it or not. Who knew kindergarden games were so much fun.
We reached mysore by 8, we headed straight to brindavan gardens. Had a great time there. We were really surprised to see a huge crowd there, for all we were told was that mysore is a dead place.
It was alive that night, and we enjoyed the musical fountain couple of times that night. The music got us into good moods with good kannada numbers and bollywood stuff. Its 10 in the night and time for dinner. We clearly understood why mysore is called a dead place now. Our driver told us that there is only one restaurant which will be open and we diddnt have an option. We had dinner and went and lodged at midnight. We were tired for no reason, but stilll some of us played cards till late 3 in the night and went to bed.
We had the whole day ahead of us and planned to visit the palace and chamundi hills. We had our breakfast in lalith mahal, great place i must say. Here are some pics.
This is the place, i am sure youve seen this in the movies.
This is where food was served. It was costly but really worth it i must say. After this we went to chamundi hills, did devi darshan and then moved on to the palace which we thought would be the highlight of the trip, but then unfortunately all our spirits died down after the palace visit. It wasnt really looking that grand, or what to say. It wasnt that rich or lavish. There are houses in bangalore more porsche than that i'm sure. I shared this thought with many of my friends, all of them told me it looks too good in the night with the lights. Its a good time to visit it in the night. So, guys whoever is reading this please visit the palace in the night. It really looks horrible in the mornings.
I must say, that we all felt lalith mahal grander than the palace
We headed back to bangalore, on the way back we visited srirangapatna. This place got me all nostalgic, as i had come here during my school trip. One thing which hurt me badly was that, the temple was in ruins i must say. No proper care has been taken, its just existing for the sake of existing.
After this came sangam, and obvi we went for a ride in the dhoni. Here is a video of it
To conclude, it was one great experience and we all spent some quality time together. I was waiting to write this blog all these days because i was waiting for some good quality photos to upload. However there still seems to be some technical issues (thats a lie) in getting it. So i wrote this only and uploaded photos from my mobile itself.
