Mythili's Son [Lord Vaidyanatha's Grand Son?]

There is a famous Elephant Camp at Dubare in Karnataka.  The route from Bangalore is via Mysore City, Kushalnagar, Gudde Hosur, which is about 4 kms. from Kushalnagar on Bangalore Mysore Road, then a left turn towards Siddapura. 15 kms. on the Siddapura Road,  you will find a  JLR Dubare Camp Board.  It is about 20 kms from Madikeri in the Kodagu District of Karnataka and 170 kms from Mangalore.  About a km. from this board, on the left side you will reach the banks of Cauvery.  To reach the Elephant Camp you will have to cross the river, with the help of a country boat, fitted with an outboard motor.  The Dubare Reserve Forest is on the other side, where you have the  Dubare Elephant Camp.
At the Dubare Elephant Camp, you can spend hours simply watching Elephants, their bathing schedules and feeding programmes.  The  elephants have been practically retired except for giving some rides to odd tourists.

I was staying at the Elephant Corridor Estates owned by Viju & Nimi Chengapa Biddanda, who run a Homestay Resort.  All details from www.coorghomestay.piczo.com.  From my place of stay, it took about half an hour to reach the Dubare Elephant Camp. A distance of about 42 Kilometers. There are quite a few elephants but what riveted my attention was Mythili's Son. A youngster, who is barely ten months old, he has not been given a name.  My sons, Pavan & Shyam and myself had some very endearing moments while photographing him and his mother.

With this brief introduction, I shall now introduce the dramatis personae.  Kindly remember that this is a photo-blog, and descriptions would be very minimal.

Mythili.

Her Son.

Mother & Son.

The Son's Frolicks under the watchful eye of the mother and her friend.

Bye Mom, going out to play?

Hey Mom, these bushes are preventing me from playing?

Maa, banged my head against the tree.  See, the tears in my eyes?

To be concluded in Part II

Rajaputhran.

Elephant's Foot.
