                        LEH-NUBRA VALLEY JEEP SAFARI

 

Eastern &Western Himalayan Jeep Safari 

 

                           (Over the highest passes in the world)

                       

Drive over the Highest Motor able Road in the World leading into the Changthang plateau, Pangong lake Tso morari and Nubra Valley. You get to travel along the Silk Route that was used by traders to travel to Central Asia from India. The altitudes are high and therefore a few extra days in Manali are advised in order to acclimatize. The Khardungla Pass is over 18,000 feet and not surprisingly, the views are spectacular from the pass. This is safari cum expedition in the Western and Eastern Karokoram Himalayas.

 

 

REGION COVERED: RUPSHU, NUBRA VALLEY, PANGONG LAKE, SURAJ TAL

MAX. ALTITUDE: Khardung-La (5580m.)

HIGH PASSES:  'Over 06 strenuous stages Rohtang, Baralacha -la, Namkila pass above Takh, Lachalanga-la, Polokonka-La, Charang-la and Chanthang plateau.

GRADIENT: In the beginning its about three hours drive up to Rohtang Pass and one gets acclimatized easily generally easy Jeep Safari over six Western, Eastern-Northern Himalayan high passes. Difficulties are not there, of course difficulties.

 

GRADING: A reasonable degree of physical fitness is needed for Himalayan Jeep Safari and one-day acclimatization at Manali is recommended.

 

SPECIAL INTEREST: Excellent view for photographers, ideal place for nature lovers and best spot for adventure lovers.

 

THE MANALI LEH- ROUTE

 

Nowhere else in the world can the traveler find such splendid diversity of mountain scenery as in the Himalayas, 'the Abode of the Snow' and unforgettable way to enjoy this diversity is to travel up the road from Manali to Leh. From the land of the Gods to the rooftop of the world. The Manali-Leh road weaves in and out amongst the mighty snow clad peaks of the western Himalayas over a stretch of nearly 475kms, 833(via Tso-morari). Destination Leh: Today this small town (altitude 3506m.) is the gateway to the wondrous world of Ladakh and its unique landscape.

 

LAHAUL&SPITI

 

The Lahaul &Spiti valleys from a unique socio-physical unit of Himachal Pradesh. These rugged valleys lie at a height of (3000to 4800m.) above sea level. Spiti is a cold mountain desert, located on the Tibetan border and flanked on the southeast by district of Kinnaur, north -east by Tibet, north by Ladakh, west by Lahaul and to the south by district of Kullu.

 

PANGONG LAKE

 

This lake is situated at an altitude of 4268mt. in the Eastern sector of Ladakh, at a distance of 154 km. from Leh across Charang Pass (5183mt.). This lake is one of the largest and most beautiful natural brakish lakes in the country. It is around 120 km. long, only 1/3 of its portion lies in Indian Territory.

 

NUBRA VALLEY

 

Nubra lives up to its name as evinced by the numerous orchards of apples and apricots. The chief crop is wheat, barley, pea millet, buckwheat and onion. It is reached by crossing over Khardung-la pass (5540mt.) that is possible for a few months in a year. Situated at the old caravan route, the beautiful fertile valley was an important halting place for the caravans. There are two main rivers thru the valley Shyok and the Nubra.

 

LEH:India's link with the exotic past, when lengthening caravans plied the ancient' Silk route' and lingered long at Leh to rest, to buy, to plan, or just to visit. What Hong Kong is to the Far East Leh, was in the so ancient times, to central Asia. In the north lay the Lhasa, the holy city, in the west is Baltistan and Kashmir and to the south lays Himachal Pradesh.Situated at the apex of a triangular plateau formed by the Indus at an altitude of 3368m.it is a small town of narrow intersecting lanes and Main Street leading to the old palace of the Rajah (King) of Ladakh.

 

ITINERARY

 

Day 01:  Start most memorable trip by train from surat to Chandigarh by train.

 

Day 02:  Reach Chandigarh by evening and depature for Manali in the evening by bus.

Day 03:  Arrive Manali in the early morning,transfer to hotel and relax.

 

Day 04:  Sight seeing in and around Manali.

 

Day 05:           Manali over Rohtang pass    -   Keylong (3142mt.) 7hrs drive. Stay overnight in the camp.

 

Day 06:           Keylong to -    Sarchu (4253mt.) 7hrs drive.  A special visit to Deepak Tal and Suraj Tal near Barlacha La. Stay overnight in the camp.

 

Day 07:           Sarchu     -   Leh (4268mt.)8 hrs drive. Stay overnight in the hotel at Leh.

  

DAY 08: Local sight -seeing in and around Leh

 

Day 09: Local sight -seeing in and around Leh. Visit Leh Palace, Namgyal Tsemo, Leh Mosque, Gompa Tsemo, Stok Palace Museum and Tiksey Monastery. Stay overnight in the hotel.

           

Day 10: Leh   -    Pangong Lake (4268mt.) 10hrs.drive and same day back to Leh. Stay overnight in the hotel.

 

Day 11: Leh   -    Hunder 6 hrs. Drive from Leh to the Nubra Valley over the Khardung La pass (5606 Mts.), the highest road in the world. Part of the drive is over a glacier. There are great views of the Karakoram Mountains from the top. Camp at Hunder.

DAY 12:          Hunder-Leh 7hrs.Leave after breakfast and drive back to Leh over the Khardung La Pass. Enroute visit Taeger and Samsthaling Gompas. Stay overnight in hotel in Leh.

Day 13:  Free day at leh for sight seeing and shopping.      .

 

Day 14: Drive to Leh Airport in the morning departure to Delhi by Air.From Delhi return to Surat by train

 

Day 15:  Arrival at surat in the morning.

 

Fee : Rs. 24,500

 

Departure Date : 5th June,2008        Back : 19th June,2008

Personal expenses, en rooted drinks while Safari and Tipping.

 

A Camel Safari on Extra Cost i.e. of Rs. 250/-only per camel.

 

Personal expenses and sightseeing in and around. Cancellation, Insurance and Risk and Release, Emergency evacuation costs, there will be no refund of payments once the Safari commences and Camera Fees.

 

NOTE:  (a) If Client needed better hotel accommodation then we and these rates will be quoted extra on demand.

 

(b) Itinerary is subject to change due to landslide and other natural calamities. In this condition, optional routes/ itinerary will be given / followed at the happening point.

 

 (c) In case of changes in routes and properties, Kshitij Adventure will accept no liability but make arrangements for substitution of equal measure.

 

 (d) In case of accident, illness, injury or mishappening, Kshitij Adventure  will accept no liability or its staff wholly or partially, responsible for the same.

 

Medical Facilities: First aid will be available at every camp. Those on special medication should bring their own necessary medicines. People having Asthma, Blood Pressure, Heart Problems or any high altitude ailments should not participate strictly.
