River Beas

The Beas river of Northern India, which is one of the great five rivers of Punjab,

originates from famous Rohtang Pass. The tourists who visited Manali and subsequently visited this world famous pass, which connects Himachal Pradesh with Ladhakh, You can’t miss her.

River Beas starts her journey from here, to amalgamate with River Satlaj in Punjab and finishes at Arabian Sea.

The Beas kund is the source. It is said the great Rishi Byas who penned our Hindu epic Mahabharata mediated here, hence the name.  On the right of the pass, lies another source. Streams from both this source join their youthful high speed rippling waves near Palachan village about 10 km away from Manali.

On the course of her journey, she passed so many village and cities. Notable among them,

Manali, Kulu, Mandi in Himacal Pradesh. My Travelogue is limited to Himachal Pardesh Only.

I would like to add here there is station named Beas near Amritsar and River Beas in Punjab.

In Himachal, so many tributaries contributed their wealth of different colours of water to this river. I have seen two. One Monalsu in Manali and the other is Parbati in Manikaran.

Parbati meet Beas near Kulu just under the Road Bridge crossing. One can differentiate the streams from their colour of water.

I photographed her during my tour of Manali in May 07 and again in Feb 08. I am the witness to different type of beauty in two different seasons, summer and winter.

If You are lover of Nature please enjoy the snaps. I apologies, if you feel, that snaps are shaky, 90% percent of the snaps are taken from bus or Tata Sumo.
