A couple of key points up front: the train service we used back in 2004 to travel from Auckland to Tongariro (National Park Village) has since been discontinued. While the day rides are still available, the night run we took both there and back has been discontinued. Flew from Manchester (UK) to Singapore with Singapore Airlines. The flight was suprisingly enjoyable. Plenty of entertainment options on the flight with on-demand audio and video. It was a day flight so didn't need to sleep, which is a good job because I can't sleep on airplanes. It was roughly 13 hours out (13.5 hours back). Arrived in Singapore early morning. I was so excided about this trip. My dad dropped me off at the San Francisco International airport and I was off on the biggest vacation of my life. I got some Australian currency and then when off to have dinner. I was surprised at the lack of good food at the international terminal at San Francisco International.
